Mr. Grant Dickinson
Grant Dickinson is the principal of East Hancock Elementary. Before coming to the Hancock County School District, he served as the Director of Student Services for the Ocean Springs School District since 2013. Grant holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Master’s degrees in Special Education and Educational Leadership from William Carey and Southern Mississippi, a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Mississippi, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership from William Carey. He taught various classes for 7 years before serving as an administrator for the last 13. He began his teaching career with the Harrison County School District in 2002.
As a teacher, he strived to provide inclusive opportunities for all students. He worked to develop new programs within the school building and community that provided access for participation from all students. He is eager to return to the school building setting, after many years at the central office, to support his students and staff in achieving their dreams.
While his family is originally from the Mississippi coast, Grant was born and raised in Saudi Arabia where his parents worked in the Middle East. His wife Monica and their children reside in Ocean Springs. Their three oldest children graduated and are all currently working in a variety of areas along the coast. Their youngest child, Madi, is entering her sophomore year at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School.
“One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he could not do.”
